Normally I would be of the opinion that you were just entering your PIN wrong. P.P.S. I'm Canadian, we have PIN activated chips on our debit and credit cards.Įdit: I will also be checking that my carbon monoxide detector is working in my apartment, because I'm feeling a little crazy. I feel like if it was tampering at the station, though, wouldn't it have happened to more people than just me? Everyone else seemed to be getting their gas fine. P.S. I will absolutely be going to the bank on my lunch break to change all of my PINs. I figured I'd give it a go, because if it didn't work I'd have to go to the bank anyway. I went to Starbucks and bought a coffee (which I desperately needed at this point) and the message, "Last PIN Attempt" popped up when I stuck in my card. The rep suggested I try to buy something from somewhere familiar. They couldn't see any holds on my accounts, nor could they come up with any explanation for what had been happening.

I got to work (late, of course) and called the bank. After that, the message on the screen said, "Last PIN Attempt", so I didn't try again. I went inside the gas station and tried to buy a Kit-Kat bar with my debit card.

It's really old, just a student card that I never canceled, so I tried it. I have one other VISA card I hadn't tried yet that has a different pin from the other two. I tried to pre-pay there with my debit card and again I got the same message. I was pretty frustrated at that point, so I left and went to the next gas station over (ESSO). I canceled the transaction and switched to my VISA card, which also gave me an incorrect PIN message. I got the incorrect PIN message, so I tried again.

I went to get gas at a Pioneer station and tried to pay at the pump with my debit card. Just curious if anyone knows what might have happened to me this morning.
